Lee Ann will speak about "how my art has evolved throughout my life and career, and how and why I opened my store. Then, of course, what creative fires both drives me and soothes my soul… a lovely addiction in it’s own right."
She writes:
I’ve always loved beautiful things. Preschool, shiny objects fascinated me… that’s another story. Later, 1940 movies, with all the glitz, glamour and fabulous costumes and hair designs, were so intriguing to me…I thought I wanted a piece of that. Things changed. Met a guy and got married. But not loosing my entire dream, together we opened a salon and spa. Did that for 40 years. All the while I was involved with other forms of art, which eventually led me into beading and another career and business venture. I am a self taught beader. I love the freedom it allows me. And… I’m still that preschooler…Still love all that glitz and glamour.

Let's Bead Live
May 11 2024 1pm - 3pm
. Youo Maggie Thompson is a self-taught jewelry designer who began designing with seed beads as a hobby 30 years ago. Thirteen years ago she discovered the Japanese art of braiding called kumihimo and turned this passion into a business, Maggie T Designs.
Her website www.maggietdesigns.com features her many designs sold as both kits and tutorials. She is also the inventor of The Traveller™, a portable kumihimo stand -- available for sale on her website and in her Etsy shop. Her designs are characterized as “embellished” kumihimo because she frequently uses 2 hole beads and crystals to embellish a braid.
She’s written 3 ebooks and a webinar for Interweave Press/Golden Peak Media showcasing her specialty of Japanese Kumihimo braiding. Interweave Press continues to sell her patterns as well as her ebooks through www.interweavestore.com
Maggie’s designs have been featured numerous times in Beadwork, Bead & Button and Bead & Jewellery (UK magazine). Her “Kumi 3 Ways Necklace” was the April 2018 Beadwork magazine cover picture. Her Oyster Bubbles Necklace was just recently featured on the cover of Interweave’s “Beadwork Inspired by Color” ebook.
